Jade was walking behind Alex to tease ask her about the recent test they both took before she noticed something. Alex was fiddling with what seemed a greyish blue painted stone with a glossy painted rectangle.
“What’re you holding?” Jade inquired with the most perplexed face Alex had seen her for thus far.
“A phone??” Alex matched Jades confused attitude, but still more irritated than she sounds.
“From the 17th century????” Somehow her question wasn’t a jab, and a genuine enquiry.
“Fine, we get it, you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. It’s from 2002.”
“Well, I wasn’t trying to be rude, the closest thing I’ve seen to that fossil is one with a screen that I saw a girl use in middle school.”
“The 3310?”
“Do you think I know the name to tha? I thought it was a stone mere-moments earlier.”
“Well, you should!! I suppose that’s something I know more about than you.” Alex had been picking up Jades smug air, much to both of their chagrin.
“Ugh! I’ll know more than you, I’ll learn all about this company if I have too!”
“But you won’t know what it’s like to use them back in their prime, now will you?”
By now Alex was grinning and Jade was fuming, and Jade couldn’t even get back at her because she was right!
“Hand me that- “Jade snatched the phone out of her hand.
“Hey- “
“How do you use this…” Their hands were trying to use the small screen as touch screen, obviously not working.
“Give me that! You use the buttons here, idiot.” Her voice was back to normal, peaking with aggression. She still didn’t fully remove it from their hands, but still pressed the buttons, grazing against Jades.
“Ah, uh, thank you.” Jade was a lot quieter now, focusing on the smaller one’s movements. “Ok, I get it now.” She took the phone back, Alex looked over her and pushed her shoulders on her tip toes to see, glaring holes at the phone. “Here.”
“What did you do?”
“You have my phone number now. Now instead of the time you tracked me by asking everyone on campus if they’ve seen me during a thunderstorm, you can text me. Also,” Jade turned around and leaned closer to her face smugly “I know how to use one of these now.”
Alex started sputtering, trying to say that she should ask permission, that I know more, that she gets very close to her face very often, but before she could do anything Jade straightened up and walked away, completely forgetting about the question about the test.
